General Motors Vietnam supporting turtle conservation in Cuc Phuong National Park

On the 4th March 2017, over 30 staff from General Motors Vietnam (GMVN) came to the Turtle Conservation Centre (TCC) in Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam, to spend one-day learning about the tortoises and freshwater turtles of Vietnam with an introduction to turtle ecology and some information on the threats and need for conservation. The General Motor Vietnam team then worked closely with the TCC keepers to help with some daily tasks at the centre, building turtle snags, changing water for the aquatic species and preparing the turtle diets for feeding.  Mr. Le Manh Hung, Director of GMVN Production Department said: “Today, General Motors Vietnam group is very impressed with all that has been done at the TCC for conservation of Vietnams turtles. We would like to extend a big thank to the TCC for organizing a meaningful day and giving us lots of interesting information. We would like to support the TCC in the future”.

Together with activities above, Mr. Pham Hai Minh, Head of GMVN Safety and environment Department, deputation of GMVN donated some much needed equipment and supplies to the TCC, including a freeze, rain coats, water pump, heat lamps, medical supplies and turtle food.  This is the first time the TCC has received support and donation from a Vietnamese company for turtle conservation. We believe this shows an increase concern for conservation from companies and organizations in Vietnam. Much needed for the future conservation of turtles in Vietnam.
