Confiscation of 5 critically endangered Indochinese Box Turtles in northern Vietnam

On 3rd May 2017, the Environmental Police Department of Ha Nam province confiscated five critically endangered Indochinese Box Turtles (Cuora galbinifrons), one King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah), two Indian cobras (Naja naja), one oriental ratsnake (Ptyas mucosus), and five Chinese rat-snakes (Ptyas korros). Apart from the Chinese rat-snake, other turtles and snakes are currently protected under national law.

On the early morning of May 04th, five critically endangered Indochinese Box Turtles have arrived safe in quarantine area at TCC while the snakes have been transferred to the Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Centre where facility and staff are available to rescue them.
